Privacy & safety

Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. PurrPDF runs entirely inside your browser. Your file is opened, changed and saved on your own device. There is no server that receives it — you can even turn off your Wi-Fi and it still works.
Do you store or see my documents?
No. We never receive them, so we can’t store or see them.
Does PurrPDF track me?
Not personally. We count anonymous usage, like which tools are used and in which countries, with our own cookieless analytics. It never sees your files, file names or the websites you visit. Details.
What does the extension need permission for?
Only two things: the right-click menu and saving your signature on your device if you ask it to. When you open a PDF from a website through the right-click menu, it asks for access to that one site at that moment.

Using PurrPDF

Is it really free?
Yes — every tool, no daily limits, no watermark, no account.
Does it work offline?
The Chrome extension works completely offline once installed. The website needs to load once, then the tools run locally.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit. Very large files (hundreds of MB) depend on your computer’s memory.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
Yes, if you know the password. Open the file in Unlock PDF, type the password and save an unlocked copy to use with any other tool. PurrPDF never guesses or cracks passwords.
Which browsers are supported?
The extension works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers. The website works in any modern browser.

Tools

How do I compress a PDF to a specific size?
Open Compress PDF, choose Target size and type the limit, like 200 KB.
Why can’t I select text after compressing?
“Strong” and “Target size” turn pages into images for the biggest savings. Use Light to keep text selectable.
Is a signature added with PurrPDF legally binding?
It places an image of your signature, like signing a printed page. That’s accepted for many everyday documents, but some contracts require a certified digital signature.
How do I split a PDF into several files?
In Split & organize, type ranges like 1-3, 4-6 and click Split by ranges.
